Did you know that TEDx is coming to Yemen?! I assume most of you know what TED is. Well if you don't, "TED is a nonprofit devoted to ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in (1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds" Technology, Entertainment, Design."
The first TED talk I ever watched was by Sir Ken Robinson, entitled "Do schools kill creativity". What a great talk that was, it blew me away. I think it is one of TED talk's most watched videos
Whenever I think of TED, three words come to my mind: ideas, innovation, inspiration. Well, TEDx has finally reached Yemen, and now we have our own TEDxSanaa and so many people are as excited as I am. The difference between TED and TEDx is that the latter is a "program that gives communities, organization and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-Like experiences at the local level". The events however are coordinated and planned independently. Since the licence to organize a TEDx in Sanaa was obtained on July 13th a group of motivated Yemenis have been working hard to coordinate the first TEDxSanaa in December 2012 and bring some of Yemen's most inspirational speakers to share their achievements, challenges, ideas, and even dreams. Be prepared to be blown away by Yemeni speakers in Sanaa this December. Kindly visit TEDxSanaa Facebook page, and join us with any suggestions that could make this event a successful one. You can also follow TEDxSanaa on twitter for updates or the hashtag #TEDxSanaa. Help us by spreading the word!
